Well, that just about does it. I'm pretty much going to go ahead and call it game over for Microsoft now. Sure, there will probably be a few Halo fanboys who will still buy a X-bone regardless, but aside from that, I'm thinking that this might very well be the last Microsoft console we see.

(EDIT)

And as far as the PS4 requiring PS Plus (the paid subscription service) for multiplayer now, well that is pretty crappy but A) it only puts it on par with what the Xbox 360 was already doing and B) it doesn't personally affect me at all since I very rarely if ever have any interest in playing multiplayer in the first place (I'm perfectly content with Xbox Live Silver/Free/whatever it's called now, for example, so I'll be equally content with PSN free).

In any case, I have not completely and totally written off the PS4. It's still on the table for me, unlike the X-bone, though I likely won't be getting one until way after launch, probably at least three or four years or more, same as I did with the PS3. We'll see how it goes, I guess. If Sony can manage to keep their screw-ups to PS3 levels and don't dip down to the nadir that is currently occupied by Microsoft, they'll be doing fairly well.

Also, this:

After getting suckered to buy a PS3 for Versus XIII, this time I'm waiting until the game comes out before buying it.

If you take your statement and replace "Versus XIII" with "The Last Guardian," it equally applies to me. Though I ended up buying a PS3 at the time I got it more for Heavy Rain and MGS4, TLG was still the main reason I wanted one. There's the vaguest hope that it might still be coming for PS3, mainly because they haven't officially totally killed that yet. Given that there was no news about it whatsoever out of E3, though, it's not really clear whether it's still coming at all at this point, regardless of whether it's still for PS3 or has been bumped up to PS4. :(

I'm not so hyped over Last Guardian, but I feel your pain (bought mine for Valkyria Chronicles & Eternal Sonata which I still haven't played yet) but it must suck to now hear anything about it. And not even a peep at Nintendo's conference, though they displayed Tetsuya Takashi's "Bigass X symbol". Surprisingly Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 is coming to PS3, so there's hope for TLG on PS3.

That's kind of funny because I just started playing Valkyria Chronicles myself for the first time over the past weekend. I've only just got up to the part where Welkin and Alicia have been drafted into the army proper, but it's pretty cool so far. Got it at the same time I got Persona 4 Arena (which is awesome) and Silent Hill Downpour (which kind of sucks, though I did manage to actually finish it once, at least) a month ago or so.

I got Eternal Sonata for 360, long before I got a PS3. I only played roughly half way through it, but like so many other games (including Star Ocean 4 and Tales of Vesperia, both of which I got at the same time as Eternal Sonata), the playthrough just sort of trailed off and I went on to other things. I keep telling myself I'll give them another go someday, same as all the rest, but, eh... we'll see... :/

Cool to hear that Lords of Shadow 2 is still coming for PS3. The first one was pretty good, and the second one looks awesome. Well, at least based on the cutscene trailers anyway, since I haven't seen any actual gameplay yet.
