Copy/pasted from a Facebook post+comments I just made:

*not so idly creates a "Do Not Install Again" category on Steam and adds "Craft the World" to it and sets it to hidden*

*adds "Gnomoria" to that category for good measure*

They're not *bad* games, by any means. That is, in fact, part of the very problem. ¬_¬ They're cool but, eventually, inevitably, frustrating games in which I tend to play it for hours, then immediately delete my saves, uninstall them, and vow to never play them ever again whenever one of my dudes dies for dumbshit reasons... and then reinstall them again later to try again.

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

This is also why I never got back into Dwarf Fortress after my initial foray several years ago. "Craft the World" and "Gnomoria" are both basically far simpler, dumbed down equivalents to "Dwarf Fortress" (though with better, more comprehensible graphics.)

(EDIT) Though I did eventually go back and try that one again a few years later. I quit on that mostly because it just got boring and repetitive after a while, especially given how carefully and conservatively I was playing it, and not repetitive in a good way the way that some games can be.
