Another Seth Abramson thread on the "Barr Letter" and media's gross misreporting of it: (THREAD) The inability of U.S. journalists to understand three key legal terms—PROOF, INDICTMENT, and CONVICTION—is making discussion of the Barr Letter and the entire Trump-Russia investigation *impossible*. I'll try to remedy the problem here. I hope you'll read on and retweet.

My copy/pasted tangential response from a Facebook post about the above:

While I definitely appreciate Mr. Abramson's continuing efforts to try to clear the air and mitigate all the bullshit that is surrounding the "Barr Letter," what I ultimately think is that no matter *what* the Mueller report (the actual one, not Barr's summary of a summary) says, the Trumpublican lickspittles in Congress are going to do what they can to defend their figurehead God Emperor, no matter what. Trump may or may not get impeached by the Dem-led House (and at this point I think he probably will not be, regardless of Mueller's actual results), but I give 99.9999% probability that even if he is impeached, he will not come even remotely close to being convicted by the Mitch McConnell-led Senate, no matter how dire things may look for him. I think (and have thought all along) that the GOP assholes in Congress, such as Mitch McConnell, are at least as big of a threat as Trump himself is, but probably even bigger, because they, at the very least, are smart enough to let everyone focus their attention and efforts on Trump and all the dumbshit things Trump says and does, while they get to sit back and remain in the shadows, like they prefer. Maybe Trump is fully aware of this and is okay with it, or maybe he believes he's actually in charge, I don't know, and in the end it doesn't really matter which of those is true. And even if, miracle of miracles, Trump somehow is successfully impeached, convicted, and removed from office and then spends the rest of his miserable life in prison, then we'll still have all of those GOP assholes in Congress left to deal with (and that's not even getting into the fact that Pence will probably be POTUS at that point, unless the miracle of the miracle of miracles happens and Pence gets brought down alongside Trump).
