Looking at all of the hullabaloo already surrounding the Democrat primaries even now, and all the people running in that, and all of the militant tribes already forming around certain candidates, who are already starting to wage total war against all of the other candidates and their associated tribes (but who will all then be expected to put aside any differences and rally around whoever wins the Dem primary, in order to overthrow Trump in the general election, and we saw how well that worked out last time *cough*Bernie-Or-Bust-Bernie-Bro-Assholes-Voting-For-Trump-To-Spite-Hillary*cough*)...
...all of that horseshit just makes me wish that primary elections in general would go away forever and that everyone who's running would run in the general election and that "party nominations" would go away forever. Of course, for that to be even remotely a good, effective, realistic thing, you'd first have to forever do away with political parties themselves, as well. (This would get rid of the bogeyman of "third party spoiler" candidates, too.) Neither of these things are things that will ever even remotely come close to happening in my lifetime, though, no matter how nice it might be to fantasize about them. Pie in the sky, pipe dream, all that good shit.
