"The new PS5 console is here! But does it REALLY matter? We discuss a Kotaku article making the case."
I haven't read and won't be reading the Kotaku article in question, so I'll just have to take Pat and Ian's word for the content of it. In any case, people are surprised and angry that a Kotaku article is pretentiously crappy? That's a part of the reason I quit following Kotaku (and most other video game "journalism" sites) years ago. Video game "journalists" get way too big for their britches far too often. *shrug*

Date: 2020-11-12 06:10 am (UTC)From:Basically it's a step up from the PS4, had almost complete backwards compatibility with the PS4 (like 10 games won't work or something) and loads games faster with it's SSD for storage and a ultra fancy rumble type feature on the new "dualsense" controllers.
Basically it's a new console that costs about 800 bucks if you want to play physical games on it. Otherwise about 600 bucks if you're fine being stuck downloading your games (lack of an optical drive.)
Personally, I'm not touching it any time soon. And if they decide to remove the physical drive option before the console becomes cheap enough to consider purchasing I'm totally fine ending this chapter of my life with modern video games. Granted the switch is still attractive enough for now.
And no, doesn't matter what the new xbox console costs, I'm not getting it.

At this point, maybe I'll just wait and see if the PS6 is backwards compatible with the PS5/PS4. ¬_¬
