(Both just showed up in my Feedly feed, which is a bit odd, since one of them is dated over a week ago [and that's the one that was weirdly the more 'recent' of the two in my feed].)
Crowdfunded TitanReach MMO game project crashes and burns after developer spends investor money on a bad crypto gamble and a Tesla
Kickstarter says they 'won't make changes to Kickstarter without you' after blockchain backlash... but they will continue with blockchain plans
So, not just crypto/NFT bullshit, but also all the more reason to never again get involved in crowdfunding, in general, and Kickstarter, in particular.

Date: 2022-02-20 06:38 pm (UTC)From:And that's also what makes it so dangerous, i.e. when otherwise (seemingly) well-meaning people are sucked into it and unthinkingly promote it, without really understanding how terrible it all is. For every story about how some dumbfuck ape thing got rug-pulled or what-the-fuck-ever, we're also seeing more and more stories about how Kickstarter or Tara Strong or entire US states[1] are going all in on this shit, making still other people who don't know any better pause and go "Huh, maybe it's legit after all, maybe I should get in on this...?" All the stories about how categorically crooked the crypto/NFT scene is are one thing, but I'm seeing more and more shit like that, too, which is worse, at least in my opinion. Despite it all plainly being bullshit, people and organizations like this that I used to at least marginally respect are still falling in and boondoggling it, regardless of how upset and angry that makes those of us who know how fucking stupid they are for falling into the bullshit in the first place (and sometimes, they even double down and not only fall into the bullshit but also start intentionally rolling around in it, too). That's probably what bothers me most about the whole situation.
Crypto/blockchain, in general, and NFTs, in particular, are nothing more than tulip mania for the 21st century. Or to put it another way: if crypto/blockchain/NFTs were a political figure, they'd be Donald Trump.
[1] - But then, granted, Texas certainly isn't one of the shinier beacons of common good sense in the United States to start with. *shrug* With that said, I live in North Carolina, which isn't much/any better in that regard. *weary goddamned motherfucking sigh*
