"Metroid Dread studio's recent console and Epic-exclusive action-adventure 'underperformed' due to 'increasingly selective consumers', says publisher"
If by "increasingly selective consumers," they had meant gamers who wisely avoid Epic Gangrenous Shitpile "exclusives" the same way joggers avoid dogshit on a sidewalk, then sure... but that's not what they meant, of course. *eye roll* Also, I never even heard of this game at all prior to reading this article about it, so perhaps that has something to do with it, too? Having seen the trailer for the game, it mostly just looks like a generic third-person action game with a big-muscle-guy-swinging-a-big-sword protagonist, which is not something I'm super interested in these days. And how much more generic a title could a game have than "Blades of Fire"? About the only title more generic that I can think of offhand is probably Quest 64.
I liked MercurySteam's Castlevania: Lords of Shadow well enough, the one time I played through it about 15 years ago, on a console I haven't owned for over a decade now, but the last time I tried to play it via Steam around three years ago, it was broken to the point of being unplayable. And Steam says I played the second game, Mirror of Fate for a grand total of 9 minutes, so that probably shows how much I cared for that game. Haven't touched LoS2 at all yet. And, of course, I haven't played either Samus Returns or Metroid Dread at all, what with never having owned the relevant consoles. And aside from Clive Barker's Jericho, which I've never owned or played, I haven't even heard of any of the other games they've made until now. (Scrapland looked vaguely interesting in the Steam trailer... at least up until it started showing actual gameplay.)
