This kind of thing should be old hat to me by now. I shouldn't get as pissed off by this shit as I do, given how often I see it, but... damn. Just... damn. Faux Noise, indeed.

On the plus side, with the video game industry intent on forming a lobby group soon, shit like this will start going away fairly soon. (Or at the very least, government use of video games as scapegoat material will.)

On the negative side, that lobby group is being formed by EA, Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony, so you know it won't be about the gamer at all, and entirely about Business. Personally I expect a big aggressive push to make (non-authorized) emulators and mod chips illegal with ever increasing fines associated with them. At one point I would expect (much like how copyright stands today with respect to movies and music) rape or murder to look like a sane alternative to installing a mod chip with how much it'll fuck over your life. :)

Sadly, I'm dead serious. I hope I'm proved wrong over time. :/
