Cartoons based on video games
Nov. 21st, 2008 10:53 pmThey say that movies based on video games are generally crap, which is true in most cases.
However, from what I can tell, cartoons based on video games appear to be much, much more horrible. The American made ones are, at least. Or, in the case of Street Fighter, cartoons based on movies based on video games (given that Sawada was in it and all).
Some examples:
-- Street Fighter
-- Mortal Kombat
-- Darkstalkers
-- Double Dragon
-- Mega Man
-- Sonic the Hedgehog (Not to be confused with the SatAM version, which was considerably less sucky)
-- Legend of Zelda (though it's still worlds better than that CDi crap)
-- Super Mario Bros
-- and the big one, Captain N
-- not to mention the blatant Captain N ripoff The Power Team.
(EDIT)
And the vast majority of the above links have been rendered null due to copyright infringement crap. *weary sigh* Look, giant music/video/whatever companies, someone uploading a Youtube video of your crap is NOT going to hurt your profit margins in any way, so please lighten the fuck up. Seriously.
(EDIT 2)
I've since replaced those with generic links to Youtube searches for the cartoons in question. It's not as good as the actual videos to which I'd originally linked, but I figure that will be less like to become dead links at some point in the future.
(/EDIT 2)
(EDIT 3)
Actually, I found all those things again and then some. Even better is that they were originally created by Matt of Two Best Friends Play, a fact of which I was unaware until recently (i.e. 2014). I've once again replaced most of the above links with ones that go to the Super Best Friends Play website versions. The ones that I couldn't find on there still have the Youtube search links.
(/EDIT 3)
(EDIT 4)
And now most of those links are lost to the ether as well, so fuck it. *weary sigh*
(/EDIT 4)
(/EDIT)
Of these, outside of YouTube I've only actually seen Mario, Zelda, Sonic (both version), Captain N, a bit of the Power Team, and a bit of Double Dragon. For the span of a couple weeks when I was a kid I... actually used to get up at around 5:00am on Sundays just to watch that Double Dragon crap because that was the only time they aired it... oh man...
Nostalgia only goes so far...
