This. Right here.
This sort of thing is precisely why I utterly loathe the video game so-called "community" these days and why I am increasingly avoiding visiting sites where they congregate, such as Destructoid and the like. (To be fair, in this case even Destructoid and Jim Sterling are critical of this behavior and rightfully so. It's nice to see him using his powers for good, for a change. Too bad several of the comments underneath that are filled with the same sort of asininity that the article itself is decrying, though.)
The gist: some douchebag apparently posted on reddit about an interview that one of BioWare's writers did six freaking years ago and now the Internet as a whole is going absolutely ballistic. Or, more accurately, the subset of the Internet as a whole which consists of the dreck that frequents places like reddit (and the comments sections of Kotaku and Destructoid as well, apparently), which in many ways is barely above 4chan in my eyes, and this very situation is evidence of why I feel that way. In fact, even the retarded phrase "X is the cancer that is killing Y" itself sounds like something straight out of 4chan. (Besides, if there is a "cancer" that is killing BioWare, that cancer would be Electronic Arts, rather than any one particular employee within BioWare itself.)
You know, honestly, I wouldn't mind it at all if games did have ways to skip the tedious combat just as many games already have ways to skip the dialogue. Oh wait, some games are already doing that. Well how about that. Does this mean that Shigeru Miyamoto is the "cancer that is killing Nintendo" or something equally ludicrous?
(EDIT) Adding the "fuck gamergate" tag to this, even though it predates the creation of GamerGate by at least a couple of years, because this right here is a textbook example of the modus operandi of typical GamerGate-supporting fuckwits. (/EDIT)
