Okay, I wasn't going to comment on this at first, but now... I'm going to comment on this. And that comment is as follows:
The fact that Anita Sarkeesian is pretty much a proven fraud (or, at the very least, she has been proven to be a fraud to my satisifaction anyway, YMMV [EDIT] but since then, given that most of the "evidence" of her being a fraud has come mostly from those who later became self-proclaimed supporters of GamerGate, I have reexamined my apparent trust in the "proof" from these people that Sarkeesian actually is a fraud [/EDIT]) is not mutually exclusive with the fact that, even despite that, she's still not entirely out of left field in what she's saying regarding sexism in video games, because it's pretty undeniable (though lots of people certainly try to deny it) that there is indeed a metric fuck-ton of sexism in video games. Strong, non-objectified female characters in video games do exist, yes, but they are few and far between, and are hugely outnumbered by the vapid, boobtastic eye candy characters that litter most games. Granted, I think there are other, far better people out there to champion this cause than Sarkeesian, but come on, you've got to admit that even a broken clock is right twice a day. (EDIT) The fact that I've used the "broken clock" metaphor to describe both Anita Sarkeesian and to describe GamerGate, at varying points in history, says... well... I'm not sure what it says, actually. It says that I like using the "broken clock" metaphor? In any case, these days, I think that Anita Sarkeesian herself is far less of a broken clock than goddamn GamerGate is. (/EDIT) And neither of those facts are mutually exclusive with the fact that the people sending her rape and/or death threats (whether they are to her home phone or "just" via Twitter or whatever) are disgusting, juvenile shitstains on the underwear of humanity (well, either that or they are genuinely psychopathic). There are plenty of legit reasons to criticize Sarkeesian. Threats of rape and death are not the proper way in which to express this criticism.
