I won't touch on the general themes of how and why feminism still needs to be a thing, which was the meat of that post, because to me, that is a self-evident, common sense, capital-T Truth that really shouldn't need to be said, but does need to be said anyway, so go read that post there, which says it better than I can. What I am going to talk about, though, is Hillary Clinton, about whom that post was also written.

Okay, here's the thing. I've said several times in the past that I am more voting against Donald Trump than I am voting for Hillary Clinton. I've said that I would vote for a drippy bag of wet dogshit before I would vote for Donald Trump. To a great extent, this is still true. My dislike for Donald Trump still far, far outweighs my like for anyone who might have run against him, including Hillary Clinton. But that is like saying that my dislike for being tossed into the mouth of an erupting volcano far outweighs my like of a mild summer rain. <Insert God-figure of your choice here> Him/Herself could be running for POTUS against Donald Trump right now, and I'd still dislike Trump more than I like his opponent.

However.

Now, what I am going to say is that, in addition to the above, I am voting for Hillary Clinton because she's Hillary Clinton, and not merely due to her virtue of being "not Donald Trump." The more I've looked into Hillary herself over the past few months, the more I've become convinced that she is the right person for the job. Not Bernie Sanders. Not anyone else on the Republican side. And, sure as fucking goddamn hellshit on moldy-ass toast, not Donald Trump, <insert God-figure of your choice here> forfend. The fact that she is running against Donald Trump now is simply the icing on the cake. Donald Trump is pure, unadulterated, utter, weapons-grade shit, yes, this is true, and it never hurts to repeat that simple fact of reality, but that fact is, for once, mostly irrelevant to the topic of this post. I would still vote for Hillary Clinton now, regardless of who her opponent may have ended up being, even if it wasn't Trump. I'd vote for her over Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio or John Kasich or Jeb Bush or, yes, even Bernie Sanders, as much as I may still like Sanders as well, for the most part. Until and unless it were to be indisputably proven that Hillary Clinton actually is the baby eating, puppy kicking supervillain that her opponents like to portray her as, and which far too many of the American electorate unfortunately believe her to be, I will be voting for her. (And even if it did come to light that she is, in fact, Satan Incarnate, as Trump goons and Republicans in general like to say she is, in that case, I'd merely abstain from voting entirely, because if the choice came down to being between Donald Trump and literally Satan Incarnate, I'd still have too much trouble trying to discern who would be the lesser of two evils to even bother with it.)

Is Hillary Clinton the storybook vision of a perfect candidate for the office of POTUS? No, of course not. Neither was (or is) Barack Obama, who currently sits (with, admittedly, some reservations) as my favorite, and best, President who has served so far in my lifetime, whose main failing, not of his own making, was that he was elected opposite of what quickly became (and still is to this day) an intensely, obsessively, asininely obstructionist Republican Congress.[1] But out of all the choices that have been presented to me up to now, including all of the no-chance-in-hell-of-winning third party candidates that I've looked into, Hillary Clinton is, for me at least, the best choice. It's not because she would become "the first woman President" or whatever. That would be an added, superfluous bonus, sure, but I simply think she is the best candidate for the job now. Period. Not perfect, as nobody is, but the best of the current crop. Is there anyone out there who could be a better choice? Perhaps there is, but that person is not currently running, as far as I can see.

[1] - And, no, Obama never had total control of Congress even during his first two years in office, despite claims to the contrary, before the "problem" was "corrected" with the election of all those goddamn Teabagger asshats (who, in my opinion, just made the true problems even worse).
