I recently bought a wireless router (D-Link WBR-2310). It works fine with my Wii and with my DS that I finally got around to buying, back at the start of my month-long vacation in NC in May.
However, I also bought a Xbox 360 wireless adapter from NewEgg a few days ago which arrived today (and which, even though it was about $15 cheaper from NewEgg than anywhere else, was still overpriced at $85 or so, imnsho), but it does not work. The connection test on the 360 fails at the first step of "Network Adapter" with "Disconnected" and everything after that is grayed out. The "Wireless Mode" section of the network settings is also grayed out and unselectable.
Apparently, this seems to be a rather common issue but for which there does not seem to be a real solution as of yet, which is rather annoying. For what it's worth, I'm still able to connect my 360 to the Internet by manually disconnecting my cable modem from my computer, moving it over next to the 360, and connecting it directly, but this is annoying because it then leaves me without Internet access on my PC until I disconnect the modem from the 360 and rehook it to the PC again. The wireless adapter was, in theory, going to keep me from having to do this.
Oh well, I haven't had my 360 RROD on me yet, so I suppose I should be thankful for that at least, or something. I dunno. *eyeroll* I've sent an email to Xbox tech support, but I'm not holding my breath.
