Hello Everyone,

We want to make sure that the Backers are aware that we are listening to their concerns. We kindly ask all our fans to have some patience, we are currently at E3 demoing the game and need to get back to our respective offices to assess the situation and together find a way forward to justify the trust you placed in us.

Thank you for your patience and support.

<extraneous shit snipped>

The comments are, of course, full of people telling them exactly what they need to do to "assess the situation."

(Also, there are more than a few trolls/fanbois/shills/reputation management drones/etc. [e.g. that WhiteLikePaste asshat] down there making their own inane comments and responding to others complaining and telling them how they're bad and wrong and how the developers and publishers and chosen storefront of Shenmue III are perfect in every way and so on and so forth, and those trolls/fanbois/shills/reputation management drones/etc. need to fuck off and die forever.)

You know, for those who find themselves in the end forced to sign up for Epic against their wishes all over this exclusive, what they need to do is send an extra note to Epic right after they redeem Shenmue 3 (or whatever game they end up being forced to sign up for.)

And by this I mean under the assumption this is a game that was being advertised on steam and was promised for steam, etc etc, prior to launch.

That note should say two things in particular. 1. Express the outrage at Epic sniping the game from steam for themselves. 2. Make them fully aware that you're signing up because you didn't want to lose the game you were promised and have already prepaid for etc - and that you will never again under any circumstance be purchasing any other game on Epic.

After that there's two things left to do.

1. Obviously never buy anything else on Epic. Keep to this boycott for as long as you live. No matter what game you were looking for ends up on Epic.

2. Every year from that point on, send them another email reminding them of your anger and boycott against any further purchases and invite them to check out your Epic account to verify that there is indeed nothing but that original game purchased.

2.5. This next point may be icing on the cake, but if there are any must-have games that you've passed on over that year because it went epic-exclusive, write up a list of the games you've boycotted. For extra shits and giggles CC that email to any developer affected by your boycott so they see what Epic sees.

You'd need enough people to go along with this same strategy of course to make it actually work to get Epic to do something constructive. But still, it's the thought that counts yes? ;) If nothing else it would be a yearly in-their-face.

Additionally I'd recommend randomly uninstalling and re-installing the game just to waste a little extra bandwidth. *grin* That would probably just force them to add download limits to their purchases, but that would end up biting them in the ass in PR vs steam. So still a win/win, especially if you only ever have 1 game in the Epic store as planned by the boycott. :D

This doesn't mean put all the blame on Epic of course. Blame the devs/publishers that agreed to limit the exposure of their game by going into an exclusive deal with a (let's not kid ourselves here.) MINOR player in the digital distribution market while claiming this maximizes the exposure of their game to the most fans.

Also, I suspect they realize how big a fuckup they stepped into when the comments to their kickstarter updates went from 20-50 to almost 2000 in just one post.
