"The Solution You Need To Finally Not Suck."

I used to suck at knowing about the existence of this video even though it's almost three years old, but then I found this video, so now I don't suck at it anymore.

"A FILM BY MEGA64

"Nearly a decade has passed. The most powerful video game machine ever built, the Mega64, still dwells underground, in a dungeon... beneath an apartment building. The experiments around it, their subjects, and its keepers, all but a distant memory... until today, when the world's biggest tech company unveils a device prototype that is wanted by the most mysterious of figures..."

Not sure if it's going to be free to view forever, but it's free to view right now, at least.

"It's been 15 years since our Resident Evil 4 video- one of our most infamous clips ever- was uploaded to YouTube. This was a skit that ended with the police shutting us down, and one of the questions we still get the most after all these years is... what exactly went down after the video ended? After 15 years, we finally answer that and present the rest of the footage online for the first time ever!

It was pretty cool. I'll probably watch the commentaries and extra stuff tomorrow. Finished it off earlier this Sunday evening. I also went back and watched Ver 1 & 2 again, over the course of Thursday and Friday.

Apparently, this is the big thing in gaming right now and has been anticipated for months? I don't know. I haven't really been following this game. It doesn't interest me much at all.

However, I have to say I was amused by these related things put out by Mega64 and The Onion.

And.... yeah. That's about it.

Mega64 FTW.

Cool, my Mega64 Version 2 DVD set arrived today.

Update: Ok, I haven't watched any of the commentary or bonus stuff yet, but having just finished watching the six main episodes, I think I can safely say that Version 2 contains triple, maybe quadruple, the amount of Double-You Tee Eff that was in Version 1. And Version 1 did have quite a bit of Double-You Tee Eff in it to be sure. If you are allergic to Double-You Tee Eff, it might be a good idea to stay far away from this one. As for me, however, I don't really mind Double-You Tee Eff. It tastes pretty good, actually. So, yeah, I liked Version 2 quite a bit.

Oh my god... Mega64 did a parody of "the genius". O_O

1) Mega 64 has released a new video based on Katamari Damacy.

2) Here's a music video based on the story of the old Atari E.T. game, landfill and all.

Recently, Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka of somethingawful.com (aka the "homeowner" in Doom House and the "cop/marriage counselor" in Mood House) gave a speech at the University of Illinois at Champagne/Urbana about the Internet and the dotcom bubble and the basics of running a successful forum, among other things. That speech can be found here (or via the SA thread here).

The actual speech clocks in at about an hour and fifteen minutes, and then there was a question and answer session bringing the video length to a little over an hour and a half. All in all, in was one of the funnier things I've seen in a while. Basically, he talks about how the dotcom thing went bust and what that entailed for him personally, how the Internet is full of lamers, trolls, and newbs (not like that's really news to anyone of course), and about how SomethingAwful came to be.

He also does quite a bit of plugging (and spoiling, so be warned) of the new Mega64 version 2 DVD which is coming out at some point hopefully soon. I have the version 1 DVD and it's pretty awesome. One slight spoiler for what they're doing on version 2 according to Lowtax: Katamari Damacy. I think I'll just leave it at that.

Whew.

And now they're gone, and I'm back. This week has simultaneously been the shortest and longest week of the entire summer thus far, if that makes any sense. Last weekend was practically non-existent as far as my usual lounging around doing much of nothing was concerned. Saturday we went to the Space Needle, took the Argosy ferry tour thing, and went to the Seattle Aquarium, and then Sunday we went to the Pacific Science Center. We'd each gotten one of those City Pass things when we went to the Space Needle which let us go to 6 different places combined for cheaper than the 6 places would have cost separately.

After the Pacific Science Center, we drove about halfway to Mt. Rainer, trying to find a good place to stop and take a good picture of it. We ended up stopping somewhere in the boonies and my sister asked some random guy if she could stand in his yard to take a picture of it since his place had a good view.

And then during the week I had to go to work. For me, that was practically MY vacation from THEIR vacation. During the week they went to the Woodland Park Zoo one day, and to Mt. Saint Helens another. They ended up giving the rest of my tickets and their Flight Museum tickets to some random people at the Zoo, I think.

One of my sisters painted my bathroom. My other sister (the one who owns it and to whom I pay rent) didn't like the brown color that the walls were originally, so now it's white with dark blue trim. It looks all right, but I didn't much mind or care about what it was before either, so meh.

Other than that, in the evenings when things were mostly settled down, my nephew and I watched all of the Mega64 ver. 1 DVD that I'd bought a while back as well as about three-fourths of the Strong Bad emails starting from the beginning. I don't think my sisters much cared for that, for fairly obvious reasons, but we enjoyed it.

Today after work, we visited DigiPen and wandered around for about twenty minutes or so while I showed them around. We got one of the new demo DVDs, which was somewhat cool.

On the one hand, it was cool that they came and visited, and we did some pretty cool stuff that I otherwise wouldn't have done had it just been me.

...but on the other hand, I am SO incredibly glad that it's Friday again and that I have two full days to sit around doing absolutely, positively nothing of any kind whatsoever, if I so choose.
