"2024 will be a year of closures, warn senior bosses"
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

It may not end up being a 1983-like full industry crash, for which I've been hoping for many years now, but may be the next best, closest thing. Though, I doubt many of those "games industry leaders" will be much hurt by any of it, sadly and frustratingly, even though they're the ones largely to blame for causing the problems that have led up to this "two years of pain" in the first place. I mean, sure, they're blaming it on "interest rates" and "investors" and "COVID" or whatever, but could it actually be decades of flagrant avarice and piss poor management, in general, finally coming home to roost? Possibly. If only. Though, again, not that the avaricious, piss poor "senior bosses" are going to be the ones feeling the brunt of it.
"'And the situation is temporary. The games business is built on very solid foundations. And when things do start to grow again, we would hope to see a more sustainable and wiser games industry emerge on the other side.'"
Maybe a wiser, more sustainable game industry that finally ceases doing all the asinine bullshit that they've been doing for the past two or three decades? Yeah... that'd be nice, but no, I'm not holding my breath. All that shit is here to stay, along with whatever just as terrible new shit the modern video game industry dreams up in the coming years.
