So I'm still playing around with this thing, even though that energy bar shit kicked in at the first of the year for everyone.

And... the energy bar shit isn't great, but it's not terrible either. I mean, I went from having no limits (on the Griffin version, i.e. the lesser AI model) to having limits, which isn't cool at all, but even so, it's not too awfully egregious. It's not like "play for 10 minutes then wait for 10-60+ minutes before you can play again" shit like far too many Facebook/mobile games are. It's more like (at least how I play it) "play for an hour or three, then wait a day or two." Which is fine, for me, to be honest, because even before the energy bar shit kicked it, I'd settled down to playing it only maybe two or three days a week at most, anyway.

As for the subscription thing. I've started vaguely considering it again. Granted, that got gutted with the recent changes, as well. I haven't paid anything yet, up to this point (nor have I felt the need to use a a single "scale" for anything, even though I've gotten almost 900 of the damn things just from the free ones they've been giving away per day for the past two months or so), so nothing much has changed with me, other than the energy bar stuff. However, the tiers have changed as well. It used to be that you could pay $10 a month and you got everything, including unlimited use of the Dragon engine, and for free you got unlimited Griffin. Now it's the case that with free tier (i.e. what I use) you get limited Griffin, for $5 a month, you get unlimited Griffin but still no Dragon at all, for $10 a month, you get unlimited Griffin and limited (energy bar-dependent) Dragon, and then, lastly, for $30 a month, you get the unlimited Dragon again.

I haven't had a chance to use the Dragon model yet. I don't know how much better it is than Griffin. But I'll say that Griffin itself is plenty good enough that it's kept me fucking around with this thing off and on for the past... hell, half a year at this point, even now with the energy bar shit. I'm very tempted to try the week trial for the $10 tier, just to be able to try the Dragon model out. And if it's so much better than the Griffin model (which, again, is plenty serviceable on its own), then I dunno, I may actually be willing to pay that much for it, at least for a little while. (I will not be paying $30 a month, though, I don't care how good Dragon may be.)
