I totally agree with this. Not to say that violent/combative video games are bad, per se. It's just that they are so prevalent.

His notes about those cases in games where you're generally defenceless and have to find ways to survive by avoiding combat/violent situations does have merit. Having to avoid combat (or just being able to) can make a game more interesting.

Try this, start up Symphony of the Night and give yourself this condition. You're allowed to have whatever weapons you want, etc, but you are not allowed to kill any non-boss creature. It is possible to do, even without getting hit much. Although you will be praying for the gas form, and the game obviously becomes insanely easy to keep to those restrictions once you have it.
