Legacy of Kain: Ascendance is a fast, 2D action platformer built around vertical movement, fluid combat, and skill-driven play. Explore a dark fantasy world brought to life through beautifully crafted pixel art and animated cutscenes, where collapsing kingdoms, haunted ruins, and shattered timelines conceal truths long buried.
Chain vicious melee strikes, evasive dashes, and supernatural attacks as you master combat that flows seamlessly into traversal and environmental puzzles. Experience multiple perspectives across Nosgoth’s history, wielding vampiric powers, confronting humanity before its fall, and carving a path through a world shaped by blood and betrayal.
Featuring an original score by Celldweller and returning voice talent from the Legacy of Kain series, Ascendance offers a new way to experience the echoes of Nosgoth’s legacy.
Ascendance isn't granted. It is earned, with blood.

Whaaa...? ō_ȱ
Well, I'm way more interested in this than I ever was in that Nosgoth horseshit, at the very least.
Oh, and Legacy of Kain: Defiance is apparently getting a remaster, too?
Huh...
Seriously, though, I thought this series was deader than dog turds.
(EDIT) So... Elaleth is apparently Raziel's sister, first mentioned in some graphic novel I never heard of before? *shrug* Sure, okay. Kinda weird, not going to lie, but I don't hate the concept even remotely as much as the Irredeemably Toxic Shithole types who are already crawling out of the woodwork in the game's Steam forums seem to. Maybe I should seek out and read this thing before forming any real opinion about any of this, though... (/EDIT)
(EDIT 2, about 3 hours later) All right, so I've read the comic now. It's been a pretty long while since I last played through the Legacy of Kain games, so I'm not sure how/if this properly fits into the timeline, because the timeline was already a jumbled mess even before this (especially with Blood Omen 2 in the mix).
Honestly, I can kind of see how people might view Elaleth as a Mary Sue or whatever, but it doesn't bother me that much. I'm actually more interested to play this new game now, when it comes out in a month and a half or whenever (though I probably won't be buying it right at launch of course, unless it happens to already be in the $5-$10 range then, maybe). In any case, it'll take more than a few neckbearded incels shrieking "WOKE" in the Steam forums because of the mere existence of a female character to dissuade my interest. I just hope that the game doesn't leave all this backstory stuff out, i.e. requiring this comic to be read beforehand or whatever. Unless the game comes with the comic... meh, it'll probably be DLC or some shit... and hell, I might even actually buy it if it is (considering I read it tonight for free on an illicit bootleg scans site) because it honestly wasn't bad. On the other hand, I also hope the game's story isn't just a rote retelling of that comic, either.
I don't know, maybe the game'll be cool, or maybe it'll be dogshit. We'll see, I guess. (/EDIT 2)
