Yeah, I also hate that so very much.
It's even worse when the thread consists of:
Post 1: "I'm having <insert problem here>"
Post 2: "Oh wait, I figured it out. Never mind."
Post 3: *a moderator locks the thread and marks the issue as "solved"*
