Fans who don't want Persona 5 spoilers (like me) aren't fucking going to be watching LPs on Youtube to start with. https://t.co/9uLyY7rVrD

For example, I watch pretty much everything @2BFOfficial puts out... but I wasn't going to watch their P5 LP, because duh, spoilers.

But to say that they or anyone else aren't allowed to LP the game at all beyond a certain point is just asinine.

It's not like people are holding guns to everyone's heads, forcing them to watch Persona 5 LPs against their will.

Of course, I think the "don't want people to be spoiled" excuse for Atlus claiming LP videos is disingenuous, at best.
— Kane Magus (@KaneMagus) April 6, 2017
TL;DR version: Atlus is threatening to file content claims on anyone who LPs Persona 5 beyond a certain point, ostensibly because they don't want the game to be spoiled, and I think that's bullshit for a multitude of reasons, even if I had zero interest in watching any such LPs myself.

Date: 2017-04-07 09:07 am (UTC)From:I often find companies that try to hide their game from fans via legal means are often doing so because they know they have a rotten egg of a product. (Lots of examples of that - like Ubisoft trying to NDA launch day reviews until after the majority had bought the game on launch day. Too late to avoid the game breaking bugs that wrecked the game to pieces.)
So... let them protect their product. I'll protect my cash in response. I can't help but suspect there's a problem with the game later in the game, all thanks to them protecting people from something they don't need protection from. As you said, people that don't WANT spoilers will avoid them perfectly fine on their own.

Date: 2017-04-07 04:11 pm (UTC)From:Well, as for me, I no longer have a PS3 and still don't and won't have a PS4 for the foreseeable future, so if/when I ever do have one of those again, I'll probably still get the game at some point, but it will only be if I see it at a severe discount somewhere. (Of course, that would have been the case (http://kane-magus.livejournal.com/597285.html) anyway, but now I have another reason for doing so.)
