"Maybe we just ditch the algorithms."

Yeah, people have been complaining about how much shit the newfangled Web 3.0 sucks, but as it turns out, Web 2.0 has sucked quite a bit of shit, too, and it's only getting worse. Like... there's a certain... let's say... enshittification... about the whole thing.

I definitely wouldn't mind a return to the days of, like, Usenet (or newsgroups or whatever you want to call them) and stuff like that. Seriously, stuff like Reddit or whatever is basically little more than just way shittier versions of Usenet. And remember forums (or message boards or whatever you want to call them)? Can we bring back forums, too? Or, you know, something like those things, without all the extraneous, superfluous dogshit that has become associated with Web 2.0 (and especially without the fetid diarrhea that is associated with Web 3.0)?

Sure, I'll wait for someone to get right on that. And then I'll wait for the inevitable enshittification of all of that, too. ¬_¬

To whom it may concern, I just deleted my MySpace page. Should be gone within 48 hours, they say. Doubt anyone will miss it, including myself. Not sure why it took me so long, aside from the fact that I hardly ever even thought about it. I found that I was never using it, primarily because Facebook all but completely replaced it. Of course, for what it's worth, I only passively use Facebook as well, assuming you don't count the RSS feed from this LJ to Facebook. However, since Facebook seems to be used by tons more people that I know, unlike MySpace, Facebook is still useful at least for keeping track of everyone.

They really make you jump through some hoops to get rid of your MySpace page too. It was rather annoying.

Atom Feed

For anyone who may care, I just added RSSAtom feed for this journal to my Facebook and MySpace pages. Consider this a test, of sorts.

And now, to add some work for me to the process, I'm going back and adding titles to my more recent posts, because apparently posts without titles muck up the RSSAtom stuff.

Dear Incredible Hulk Advertisement On The MySpace Login Page That Pops Up Out Of Nowhere And Fills The Entire Bloody Screen A Half A Second After The Page Loads And Just Before I Can Click The Login Button Causing Me To Unintentionally Travel To A Site I Had Absolutely No Desire Whatsoever To Visit,

Kiss my ass and go to hell, preferably after first dying in an electrical fire. You and all of your ilk, as well.

Sincerely,

Someone Who Hates You Very Much.

Um... why is Tom in my friend updates/subscriptions thing on MySpace even though Tom isn't actually on my friend's list? Yeah, I know he's the "face of MySpace" and the "first friend" and whatever, but I removed him from my list about 5 minutes after joining the site back in the day. I don't care if he was tagged in a photo or if he has added a profile song. Hell, I'm only vaguely interested when people I know do these things, let alone Tom.

Anyway, I don't really care about the above all that much. I'm just killing time until I have to leave for school.

Yes, I'm off to school in about 10 minutes for another 6 hours or so worth of annoying crap (i.e. working on a CS370 project), the same as yesterday. Yes, I do realize that today is Sunday and that yesterday was Saturday. Blah.

Okay, out of curiosity, does anyone know how to get it so that a Xbox Live Gamertag will show up in either a LJ profile or a MySpace profile (perferably both)? Apparently, neither of them allow iframe tags, which is what the code from the Xbox.com site supplies. The best I've gotten is to just put it in as a mere text link, but that's kinda lame and retarded. Hopefully, there's some trick to it or I'm just missing something obvious or something.

*shakes head*

Like last time, I made some changes to my MySpace page last night, and when I got up this morning, there were 16 spam Friend requests waiting for me, 12 of which were from "This Profile No Longer Exists". While I've been messing with the page more often than before and this doesn't happen every time I do anything with it, it sometimes seems like these spambots just get on a kick and go absolutely crazy. Last night was just one of those nights for them, I guess. *shrug*

Okay, so I made some minor edits to my MySpace page last night, and when I got up this morning, I had twenty-two friend requests and two messages (one of which was from the infamous "This Profile No Longer Exists") sitting in my inbox. Every single profile pic was of a random female, all of whom were in varying states of undress and posing like it was some kind of Playboy photo shoot or something (except for Ms. "This Profile No Longer Exists", of course, but I'd wager that she was pretty hot back in the day as well). I get this obvious spam all the time, usually only right after I do an update of some sort to my page which is pretty rare, but have never gotten this many at once before. It's vaguely amusing, in a "just leave me the hell alone already, sheesh" kind of way.
