Following up on finally finishing Mother 3 for the first time the other day, I did some Internet searching, and I came across this website and their Youtube "Mother Direct" videos. Having watched through those, I found several new "Mother-like" games, some of which I already knew about (it's a bit weird that the Mother Forever site itself didn't turn up for me at all during that previous search), but quite a few that I hadn't.
Also, I had no idea that there were so many documentaries about Mother/EarthBound out there. (It's still surreal to me to watch these things [or, at least, the trailers for these things, as I haven't watched any of the full documentaries yet] and see them talking to a guy I knew IRL, as I have mentioned before.)
And... while it was worth watching those Direct videos to find out about the indie games and the documentaries and such, I also have to say that I just can't wait to sigh wearily and cynically when Nintendo inevitably and inexorably C&Ds all those direct EarthBound/Mother fan games, too, like Mother Encore and Mother² and EarthBound Dimensions. Especially when they're being plastered all over the Internet like that. Fan game creators never learn, do they. Seriously, why people still try to make fan games based on Nintendo IP, I have no clue. It almost never ends well for anyone involved. (Honestly, I was a bit surprised that Mother: Cognitive Dissonance actually managed to get successfully released.)
