Angry Joe, ranting about more bullshit copyright claims on his videos, shows once again how absolutely fucking broken current copyright laws are and also demonstrates why I personally have less than zero interest in ever trying to use Youtube for anything at all.

I completely agree. At first it was the forced signup with google+ that prevented me from bothering with youtube, nowadays it's the extremely lopsided, biased, and broken copyright system that youtube maintains. (Yes, the copyright system in general is fundamentally broken as well, but youtube goes further and essentially ignores the little guy.

Case in point, there was one person who documented his case where a music company had hit him up with a strike for using footage from one of their music videos on his channel.

The problem? The youtuber was the original creator of that video - he had licensed it to that very music company. He tried to appeal to youtube - youtube forwarded the complain to the music company which promptly denied the complain and "confirmed" they owned the copyright.

It wasn't until the youtuber directly contacted the music company, informing THEM of a breech in contract and that they would be brought in to court, did they finally reply and concede that they didn't own the material to youtube. IE: The company had to release their claim. Youtube wouldn't lift a finger for the artist that didn't have a big company at his back.

IF I were to use youtube, you should probably ask me to get my head examined, but regardless even if I did it would only be for me promoting games/etc that I made myself. And I would never license any of it out to another company that could then try what the music company above did.

Mind you, it was incompetence at that music company that caused the issue, not over the top malice. The person who had originally licensed the guy's video was fired and the new person didn't bother to familiarize himself with the existing state of licensed material. But from a youtuber's perspective, incompetence of this level is still fairly malicious.
