I'm currently sitting in JDK Automotive, because my sister asked me to bring her Rav4 down here for an oil change and tire check. They have a TV up on the wall in the corner blasting Faux Noise at high volume. Right now, they're doing a segment on "tHe TrAnSgEnDeRs" and about how "wOmEn'S sPoRtS aRe RuInEd FoReVeR bEcAuSe Of ThE tRaNsGeNdErs." Oh, it just went to a commercial with a campaign ad of some dipshit blathering about "wOkE pOlItIcS." It is... decidedly unpleasant, to say the very least.

While I could just, like, go outside or something, I'm kind of morbidly curious to see just how ludicrously terribad it can get.

(EDIT)

Oh goody, their main story is apparently about "tHe BoRdEr CrIsIs" and how "bIdEn Is DoInG nOtHiNg." But then, in the very next breath, they started talking about the bipartisan border control bill that the Trumpanzees in Congress just killed because their God Emperor Trump commanded them to kill it, since Trump would rather have "ThE bOrDeR" as a talking point, instead of actually fix anything (or, at least, let it be even partially fixed without sticking his own tiny, piggy fingers into the pie and poisoning the whole goddamned thing for everyone involved).

Basically, so far, the main thrust of the Faux Noise "discussion" has been "drug cartel gang murderer rapists are flooding into this country in droves and BIDEN IS DOING NOTHING!!!!!!11!!"

Seriously, it's like a window into... well, I'd say "Bizarro World," but I don't want to libel Bizarro, his planet, or DC Comics.

...

...

Oh fucking Jesus... some ancient dude (who apparently works here) just came in the door, glanced at the TV, and immediately launched into a tirade with the guy at the desk about "tHe IlLeGaLs." And the desk guy is ranting about all the "iNnOcEnT pEoPlE bEiNg PeRsEcUtEd" who were at the capital on Jan 6. Both of them are going on and on about how "the world has gone to hell" or how "I don't know what to tell my kids and grandkids about their future" and other such loony, melodramatic asininity. The ominous phrase "I'll tell you one thing, a lot of 'em have guns" was said. I am embarrassed to even be in the same room with these fuckwits.

Car stuff is done, so I'm stopping for now.

(/EDIT)

(EDIT 2, 5:02pm)

Okay, back home now. Don't really have too much to add to the above though, aside from a bit of editing/fixing stuff, because I wrote all of the above on my phone (well, aside from whatever I end up adding/editing, here and now). One thing else I remember was that the Faux Noise dumbfuck talking heads discussing the Trumpanzee killing of the border control bill were trying to frame it as "tHeY kIlLeD iT bEcAuSe It DiDn'T gO fAr EnOuGh To CuRb BiDeN's EvIl OpEn BoRdEr PoLiCy" or some such astounding buffoonery, rather than the truth, which was that they killed it because Dumbshit Jackass Trump ordered them to kill it, no more and no less.

I guess the point of all this is to just remember... this... all of the dumbfuckery described above... this is the diseased, malformed, hateful mindset of at least a third of the entire fucking country right now, thanks almost entirely to the efforts of dishonest horseshit like Faux Noise here and their equally disinformational contemporaries over the past several decades. It's abjectly fucked up, and I just don't know what can be done to fix the problem. I mean, besides the obvious solution that I've already talked about before, of course. Even if that solution would be nigh impossible to ever actually implement. (EDIT 3) And even if it somehow were successfully implemented, that wouldn't magically make the wrong-headed, dipshit one-third or more of the country suddenly become not that. (/EDIT 3)

"Hi. For Part Two, we're looking at outspoken, celebrity Democrats. Do they put their money (votes) where their mouths (mouths) are?"

The gist: loudmouth Democrat congresspeople are, for the most part, pretty much demonstrably not as horrifically terrible as their loudmouth Trumpublican congressasshole colleagues are. Big shock there. Oh and Gavin Newsom, for some reason, even though he's not a member of US Congress. Also Joe Biden, I guess, at least for a little bit?
kane_magus: (Default)

"Hi. Let's look at some of the loudest, most perpetually online GOP politicians, and see if they're actually doing things that help their constituents. Next week we'll do the Democrats!"

I guess this video was only talking about people currently in Congress, because Donald Trump didn't dominate the entire video like he probably would have otherwise. Trump did get mentioned a few times and had a tiny bit of focus at the end, but it otherwise wasn't about him, despite the fact that he is the epitome of a "loud, celebrity politician."

Also, be warned: *weary sigh* Warmbo is in this, for some reason. And given how this episode ended, the next episode might be really skit heavy, assuming they try to have "continuity" or whatever.

<sarcastic monotone> Great. </sarcastic monotone>

Because Dreamwidth continues to suck, here is the full headline: "A heavily armed man was found dead at a Colorado amusement park. Officials say he may have been planning a devastating attack"

Well...

...I'll give the guy this much credit. He actually did the thing I always say these potential mass shooters(/bombers) should do: he started with the "suicide" part of the "murder-suicide." I mean, it sucks that it got even to that point, but it's certainly better than the alternative.
kane_magus: (Default)
Yeah, this shit is pretty disgusting and horrible, though I wouldn't describe it as shocking. Nothing about this is surprising. If stupid, ignorant, gullible, hateful assholes are going to be allowed to homeschool their children, then it's inevitable that A) they're going to display their stupid, ignorant, gullible, hateful asshole mindsets at these homeschool conferences and that B) likeminded stupid, ignorant, gullible, hateful assholes (or, perhaps, cynical, disingenuous, vile, hateful assholes) are going to be there to sell them the shit they want to hear.

And all we're going to end up with are stupid, ignorant, gullible, hateful asshole children, who will grow up to be stupid, ignorant, gullible, hateful asshole adults, who will probably then homeschool their own children to be stupid, ignorant, gullible, hateful asshole members of society, in an endless cycle of stupidity, ignorance, gullibility, hate, and assholery.

"That evening, I finally tell B that I am throwing up before the conferences. He asks if we need to stop going. I want to say yes, but I don’t.

"Although throwing up is new, this conversation isn’t. One thing about B — he will follow my lead. He gets the double standard without me needing to verbalize it. Deep down, neither of us is ready to be forced out. So once more, over drinks, we hammer out reasons why we want to be in places that cause strife.

"'We make a lot of money at these events,' I say. It feels dirty coming out of my mouth. B nods and orders another round."

Well, think about it this way... it's better that at least some of these people are spending that money on something that's actually good and worthwhile, rather than on the rhyming Jesus shit or the gun rights shit or the "anti-woke" shit, right?

(Also, consider the source, here, and take it all with a grain of salt. I don't usually link to HuffPost articles, precisely for that reason, but this was mostly just an opinion piece, with descriptions that line up with several other similar views of homeschooling that I've seen and heard over the years, rather than some ludicrously skewed attempt at "hard-hitting journalism" or whatever, so it seemed safe enough.)

"Hi. Conservatives sure want Americans to have more children, but they don't seem to like children at all or want to support them in society! In today's episode, we look at the many challenges Americans face if they want to become parents, and the questions one has to answer to make such a decision."
kane_magus: (Default)

"Hi. It's Republican primary debate season! Ungghhhh.......... sfhkjsahvj...
Anyway, here's a look at some of the giant weirdos who think they can beat Trump and BE Trump and not inspire their political party to want to hang them."

(Warning: this video features not just one Warmbo, but two Warmbos. *weary sigh* And yet, either or both of those Warmbos literally would still make a better POTUS than any of the supposed humans discussed in this video.)

Truly, the fact that anyone would even want to be "the next Trump" is just depressingly mind-boggling (and also mind-bogglingly depressing) to me.

Yeah, keep right on riding that Trump Train, you disingenuous ghouls. Honestly, I hadn't even heard of half of these assclowns before watching that video, and now I'm just kind of almost wishing that I hadn't watched the video so that I could have continued on with my life without having heard of those assclowns. When Chris fucking Christie[1], of all people, is apparently the """""best""""" of that whole bunch, that just demonstrates how egregiously shitty and terrible that whole bunch is.

Also, I just have to say that "The end result of decades of dog whistling finally calling the dog," has to be one of the most succinct and apropos descriptions of the GQP, of Donald Trump, and of Trump's effect on the GQP that I've heard in a while.

[1] - I.e. Chris goddamned Christie, the man whose pretty much only redeeming virtue whatsoever is the fact that he is apparently the only candidate with a willingness to unequivocally denounce Trump for the con man, charlatan, and blatant, brazen criminal that Trump most certainly is (out here in objective reality, at least), unlike all the rest of those intolerably ludicrous shitbirds. And yet, as the video helpfully points out, Christie is still a raging dog turd in far too many other ways.
kane_magus: (Default)
So fucking senseless and wasteful and stupid.

I think Confederate flags and Gadsden flags and Thin Blue Line flags and goddamned Trump flags are hateful and asinine. However, if I were to see a Confederate flag or a Gadsden flag or a Thin Blue Line flag or a fucking Trump flag flying outside of a store, I would not go into that store and berate the owners for choosing to fly said flag outside their place of business. And I'm sure as goddamn shit not going to shoot and kill someone over it. I, quite simply, will not give my money or time or patronage to such a business, that is all. At the very most, I might write a snarky blog post here about such a store and maybe recommend that others also not give their money, time, and patronage to such a store, but that's about it. Nothing more, nothing less.

Now, could you fucking hateful pieces of GQP shit maybe, just maybe, extend the same courtesy to LGBTQ+ people and their supporters, rather than being your usual fucking hateful pieces of GQP shit selves about it? Just once? To just, for once in your goddamned lives, show basic, bare minimum human decency? Just? Fucking? Once? That'd be real cool of you, you know? If someone is flying a Pride flag at their store and such a thing happens to gripe your ass something fierce, perhaps... just don't go into that store, huh? Maybe, and hear me out on this one, don't fucking murder the store owner?

And that's not even getting into the whole bit mentioned in the CNN article about the "unprecedented wave of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in 2023" and other such more generalized asininity on the part of fucking hateful pieces of GQP shit.

Truly, this is just yet another instance in a very long list of instances that demonstrates why the GQP, and everything the GQP stands for, and everything that supports and props up the GQP, all need to utterly cease to exist, and the sooner the better.

"Hi. In today's episode, we look at the false narrative surrounding police 'defunding' and crime, and investigate what cops have really been up to since the summer of 2020."

Full headline, due to continued suckage of Dreamwidth: "Doom co-creator John Carmack is headlining a 'toxic and proud' sci-fi convention that rails against 'woke propaganda'"

(Wisely, PC Gamer has disabled the comments for this article.)

Well, fortunately for me, I haven't given a flying fuck about anything John Carmack has done since 1995, and with this ridiculous dumbshit here, I can very easily continue to not give any fucks about him.

(EDIT) Regarding the update... you're still going to the fucking con, John. Nothing you say means jack shit (and what you're saying sounds like "both sides" bullshit to me). Actions speak louder than words, John. The fact that you're still going to the goddamned con, despite everything, says all we need to hear about you and, more importantly, from you, John. (/EDIT)

And another thing: I have become increasingly convinced that anyone who uses the word "based" in that way is someone that I can safely ignore henceforth.

Here is that same post by Wil Wheaton from before, except on his Medium page.
kane_magus: (Default)
A post on wilwheaton.net.

See the tags below if you want a preview of what Mr. Wheaton's post is about, before viewing it. That's the only commentary I have on his post, as he has pretty much said everything that needs to be said, right there.

With character.ai this time, namely the "Text Adventure Game" module. This time, I managed to refrain from breaking out all the awful Bible quotes, at least.

Basically, I'm just going to come in here all in media res, same as with that AI Dungeon post from a few years ago (because, oddly enough, that came into discussion during this as well). Initial context for the below is that at some point prior to this, I had received a mysterious letter that had a hidden message in it that said "Find me" and was signed by "The Author." That is all. That's all I ever knew about that, and was never given any additional clues, until the below. (And just to note, too, this was a story that started, way back at the very beginning, with me being caught in a giant spiderweb, which is apparently the default prompt for this "Text Adventure Game" module.)

Also, just to note, when you or the AI encircles text with *asterisks*, it gets auto-formatted to italics, but when you copy/paste the AI's stuff from there to somewhere else, like here, it gets reformatted back to *asterisks*, so I had to manually change them all once again back to italics here. (When I copy/pasted my own stuff that had similar *asterisk*-to-italics back here, though, the formatting was stripped out entirely, for whatever reason.) Anyway, my point is that, while I think I got them all, if there are any *asterisks* instead of italics in the below, that'll be why and I just missed it as I was copy/pasting.

So, here's where I'll jump in. (Though, I'll just say, a lot of the stuff before this point was similarly weird, too, e.g. "metanarrative bunk" and all that. Not going to share any of the prior stuff here, though. Sorry.)

Huge wall-o-text behind cut )

And... that's pretty much it. After the religious debate stuff, when things were wrapping up, it started getting a little bit maudlin, which was another part of the reason I felt like I needed to bail for the night. Only once, surprisingly, in this entire thing did the "inappropriate" shitcan censor get triggered and killed that most recent AI response, and as I was reading it, while it "typed it out" before it got deleted, I'm not even sure what the AI said that was different from things it had already said that would've triggered it. *shrug*

I'll just say this much about character.ai, generally speaking. I don't know what model they're using their stuff, but I feel like it is at least as good as AI Dungeon's old-school, pre-fuckup Dragon was, if not even better. I very rarely felt like I had to use the retry/redo functionality here, outside of the occasions where I simply didn't like the way the story was headed and just went all the way back to an earlier point, sort of like what I mentioned above. The nonsensical, non sequitur stuff is almost nonexistent in this one. It's pretty damn good, for the most part.

And the best part of it is that I haven't yet had to pay a dime to use it, at least so far. The only problem I have with it is that the entire UI pretty quickly gets rather laggy the longer a session goes on, but a simple refresh of the browser usually fixes that issue, at least until it crops up again.

I'll definitely try that "Text Adventure Game" module again at some point, though I'm pretty sure this particular story is well and truly finished.

Went out a while ago, and as I was driving along, I saw an asinine "God, Guns, & Trump" flag flying in some dipshits' yard.

*smdh + eye roll + facepalm + weary sigh*

It's like... pick one of those things, if you really must, but just realize that the other two do not go hand in hand with the one you do pick and are, in objective reality, at odds with one another. Or, if your cognitive dissonance is so off kilter that you think those things do sync well together, then just realize that you're part of why this country is so fucked up right now.

For one thing, just to get it out of the way, Donald "Take the guns first; go through due process second" Trump is one of the most demonstrably ungodly men on the face of the planet right now.

As for god and guns, I'll leave it as a simple exercise to the reader to suss out why those two things don't (or at least shouldn't) mesh well together. (Well, no, I'll also play devil's advocate to myself here. I guess it depends upon your interpretation of "god," as I suppose there are some versions of "god" out there that would be just fine and dandy with guns [and maybe even with Trump, too, for that matter, at least in the "Biblical plague" sort of way].)
kane_magus: (Default)
*weary goddamned sigh*

I've pretty much already made my opinion of Fucker Carlson pretty clear (if the fact that I call him "Fucker Carlson" in the first place wasn't enough to clue you in), and it's pretty much the same as my opinion of all the rest of RWNJ "news" "media." In Fucker's case, he should be one of the first up against the wall, for a multitude of reasons, but he most assuredly shouldn't be the only one. He certainly isn't the only shithead calling for asshole Abbott to pardon the murderer, after all.
kane_magus: (Default)

"Scott Adams, the guy who created Dilbert, has this weird obsession with...murder? Look at how much he talks about!"

Scott Adams: "Parents should kill their children before they grow up to become mass shooters."

Also Scott Adams: "Kids should be allowed to kill their bullies."
kane_magus: (Default)

"Hi. The GOP has been in control of the House for just over two months, but all they can seem to do is promote awful legislation, hold performative investigations, and fight amongst themselves."

So, essentially, it's pretty much what everyone with at least two brain cells to rub together expected would be the case, then.

And, of course, yet more discussion of banal GQP whinging about "wokeness" in this video.

Also, those extended clips from CPAC near the end of the video made my arms tired, due to the sustained hoisting of double middle fingers throughout the whole bit.
kane_magus: (Default)
And, apparently, the neighbors believe that this is a good occasion for them to shoot their guns a whole lot.

Go figure.

"Hi. On our final episode of 2022, we look back at some stories we didn't cover, including soup getting thrown at art, a queen dying in some sort of kingdom, quiet quitting, and brief instances of some good news."

A bit too skit-heavy for my tastes (and, honestly, these days, any skits at all are too many, as far as I'm concerned), but otherwise an okay episode.

Without getting into all that other banal, tiresome, nauseating, bullshit "news" crap that Cody talks about all the time...

...pretty much everything I've personally seen and heard about the new Avatar movie has been good. I thought the first one was plenty good enough, too, for that matter (based on the one [1] time I've seen it, back when it first came out, 13 years ago), and I never really understood all the "oh god, not another Avatar movie, lord it's going to be terrible just like the first one was" opinions that washed/wafted across the Internet all effluvia-like in the wake of the announcement of its mere existence. Granted, I haven't seen the new one yet, so I don't know, maybe I'll hate it, but I doubt I'll hate it.
